Plant Diet FAQs
1. What is a plant diet?
A plant diet (or dieta) is a sacred practice of entering into relationship with a plant as a teacher, healer, and ally. It involves consuming the plant in a simple, intentional way while creating space to listen, receive guidance, and allow healing on emotional, physical, and spiritual levels.
2. Why is it called a “diet”? Do I need to fast?
The word "diet" originates from the Latin diaeta, meaning "way of life." When understood like this, it makes more sense in the context of plant medicine. A plant “diet” is a new way of life. You become initiated to a new world - the world of nature’s consciousness. While there are dietary restrictions, (and in isolated diets there is some fasting), that’s not what the word is referring to. This is about welcoming you into a new relationship with nature’s knowledge, wisdom and truth.
3. What happens during the diet?
Once you register with me, you receive guidance on how to prepare for the diet. (Preparation includes dietary restrictions, lifestyle boundaries, and setting intentions.) On Day 1 of the diet we do an online ceremony where we open the diet, call in the plant spirit, and share intentions. For the next 14 days, you consume a daily dose of the plant extract / medicine, which will have been sent to you. You will meditate and create space to connect with the plant. On day 14, we close the diet in an online ceremony.
4. How long does the diet last?
You’ll be drinking the medicine every day for 14 days. But really, the diet really begins as soon as you decide to do it. Your plant will start working with you at that point, and the connection gets stronger once the diet opens on day 1.
5. What am I supposed to feel during the diet?
Everyone's experience is different. You may feel more emotionally sensitive, have vivid dreams, or experience waves of insight, release, or calm. If your intention is around healing a specific wound, that wound may get triggered. Some people get sick during diets, others don’t. Some have emotionally volatile experiences, some cruise through with little or no disruption. Whatever happens, your plant is still working with you.
6. What if I don’t feel anything?
That’s okay. Generally I’ve observed that the more sensitive someone is, the more active and alive the plant will feel in their system. But plant medicine doesn't always communicate through big feelings or visions. Often, the work is quiet, happening beneath the surface. Keep showing up, listening, and being present. Trust in the intelligence of the plant.
7. Can I continue my normal routines?
Yes, but slow down as much as possible. Create more spaciousness in your schedule so that you can reflect, meditate and journal. Avoid unnecessary stimulation and spend more time in nature - especially sitting with the plant you’re dieting. Even subtle shifts in rhythm can deepen the connection.
8. What are the restrictions / life style boundaries I’ll need to implement?
During the diet and preparation phase, the goal is to clear out your system as much as possible in order to heighten your sensitivity to the plant spirit. For that reason, it's recommended to simplify your food (avoid processed food), cut out addictive substances (alcohol, caffeine, smoking, and vaping), abstain from sexual activity (including self pleasure), avoid social media and dark media. In isolated dietas undertaken in the jungle, the restrictions are extremely rigid, but for social diets with celtic plants, there’s more flexibility. The restrictions will vary depending on which plant you’re working with, and the specific recommendations will be shared with you before you start the diet.
9. What should I do if intense emotions come up?
Welcome them gently. Rose often brings buried grief, anger, longing, or heartbreak to the surface for healing. Ground yourself with breath, journaling, or a bath. You're also encouraged to reach out for support if needed.
10. Will I trip or hallucinate?
No. I only hold diets with subtle, non-psychoactive plant. The effects can be profoundly emotional, energetic, and visionary—especially in dreams or deep meditative states, but this is not like doing psychedelics.
11. What happens after the diet?
After the formal diet ends, you'll be guided through a closing ritual and offered practices to integrate the experience. Many people continue to feel Rose’s presence and teachings for weeks or months. She may become a lifelong ally. Integration time can last for weeks or months.
12. What is integration?
After you work with a sacred plant, you need time to digest the experience. The plant has expanded your consciousness, often revealing new ways of seeing, feeling, or being, and integration is like letting the medicine sink in. Your body, emotions, and spirit absorb the teachings and catch up. It’s how the shift becomes embodied — not just something you felt, but something you begin to live. This is where true transformation takes root. Without integration, even the most profound experience can fade. With it, the diet becomes a turning point.
13. Can I continue taking medications or supplements?
In most cases, yes—but please consult with the facilitator and/or a healthcare provider beforehand. Rose generally does not conflict with medications, but it's important to approach any plant diet with awareness and respect.
